Communities and businesses are getting involved in
sustainable tourism to help protect Ha Long Bay and Cat Ba, managers of
the sites said at a meeting held yesterday in Hai Phong.
The lure of rock-climbing has been bringing several
local and foreign visitors to Cat Ba in recent times. It is an ideal
place for those who love adventure sports to indulge in their hobby.
The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the
northern city of Hai Phong has announced plans to diversify the city''s
tourism products and improve services to turn the city into a tourism
hub.
The northern province of Quang Ninh plans to develop
its island district of Co To into a national eco-tourism destination as
part of the Cat Ba-Ha Long-Van Don- Mong Cai-Tra Co tourism circuit.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has ranked Cat Ba archipelago in the north to national heritage status. The elevation comes as nearby Hai Phong City prepares for next year''s National Tourism Year of Song Hong (Red River) Delta.
A design contest has opened for Vietnamese and
foreign residents to submit for a mosaic portraying the Cat Ba langur in
its natural habitat on Cat Ba Island, the northern province of Hai
