The second Companion of Development press award was launched yesterday
to honour kindness between people and reinforce the belief in a
civilised society, said Le Quang Binh, director of the Institute for
Studies of Society, Economics and Environment (iSEE).
The film Nhung Nguoi Viet Huyen Thoai (The Legend Makers), winner of the
Golden Lotus Award at the National Film Festival, has premiered in HCM
City to local cinematographers, art critics and press.
The biennial Viet Nam press-caricature painting contest, the Rong Tre
(Bamboo Dragon) Cup, kicked off yesterday welcoming entries from amateur
and professional caricaturists living in Viet Nam.
Vietnamese photographer Nguyen Thanh Hai (better known as Maika Elan)
recently won the first prize for contemporary storytelling through
photography at the World Press Photo Contest for her essay of 12 photos
featuring the daily lives of homosexual couples in Viet Nam.
