Several relics and artifacts have been excavated from the Ho Dynasty
Citadel''s southern area in the central province of Thanh Hoa, Director
of Heritage Conservation Centre Do Quang Trong said.
Archeologists from the Viet Nam Institute of Archaeology have
discovered numerous valuable relics in the Vu Lam royal step-over
place, located within the Trang An scenic landscape complex.
Five famous historical sites and sightseeing attractions in Ha Noi have
been granted certificates as Special National Relics, in a ceremony
that took place at Ly Thai To Square on Saturday night.
The Nara National Research Institute for Cultural
Properties of Japan will develop new techniques to preserve valuable
wooden relics in the Thang Long Imperial Citadel.
The authorities in central Thanh Hoa Province have just approved a
master plan for excavating and researching the relics of Ho Citadel
during the period 2014-20.
The Thang Long royal citadel relics require further excavations, which
may take one to two more centuries, according to Prof Tong Trung Tin,
director of Viet Nam Archaeology Institute.
Over 600 relics in Ha Noi have been seriously
damaged and are in need of immediate restoration work, but funds for the
work have not been made available in the municipal budget.
The Hue Relics Preservation Centre has announced several programmes that
will make it easier and cheaper to visit the city''s numerous historic
monuments.
Hue''s royal buildings and monuments are threatened by decay caused by
the impact of climate change and a back up of water in the surrounding
waterways.
The central province of Quang Nam has great
potential in history, tradition, culture and environment, as well as two
UNESCO-recognised world heritage sites and the world biosphere reserve
of the Cham Islands, to promote sustainable tourism, said Lucy Russell,

The Hue Relics Preservation Centre and its partners
are working on a project to showcase several areas of An Dinh Palace,
one of the city''s most well-known historic sites.
Archaeologists from the Viet Nam Archaeological
Institute and Tuyen Quang Museum unearthed several relics in Son Duong
district of Tuyen Quang province in an excavation early this year, said
Ly Manh Thang, deputy director of the provincial museum.
