HA NOI — The five star Sheraton Hanoi is presenting a food promotion featuring Japanese cuisine at its Oven D’or restaurant.

During the 10-day event, executive chef Nguyen Cong Chung, who was named the Best Chef in Asia 2017 by Hotelier Awards, has delivered a life-time of culinary experience to connoisseurs in Ha Noi.

Guests will have the chance to treat themselves to delicate dishes made from the finest ingredients such as sushi and sashimi, tempura, okonomi yaki pancakes, shabu shabu hotpot, ramen and soba noodles. The dishes are served in a buffet style so guests are free to taste all the unique flavours as if they were exploring a real street in Japan.

For the first time at the hotel, guests will be experiencing the Japanese culinary journey through the impressive story of the hotel’s General Manager, Masahiro Taguchi. Born in Kobe, Kansai, Taguchi has brought with him all the traditional flavours of his hometown during his journeys around the world. These flavours bring back the memories of his childhood.

“Okonomi yaki pancake is undoubtedly my soul food. This dish is a nostalgic part of my childhood that can hardly be forgotten. The pancake originally comes from Kansai, where Kobe was born. Instead of making Okonomi yakithe the usual way like other regions in Japan with ingredients like flour, cabbage, and pork belly, in Kobe, we replace the pork with a special ingredient that is the signature of the city. We use suji kon-nyaku, or stewed beef tendon,” said Taguchi.

The Japanese cuisine will be served for lunch and dinner from now until June 24.  — VNS
