HÀ NỘI Beautiful landscapes across Việt Nam like Cúc Phương National Park, Sa Pa and Hạ Long Bay are featured in two new music videos by South Korean singer-songwriter Joseph Kwon.
The two songs, Butterfly Flakes and Waiting for You, 5000 Years have been released in celebration of the 30th anniversary of Việt Nam-Republic of Korea (South Korea) diplomatic ties.
“I hope that my new songs and MVs that have been elaborately shot in 19 provinces throughout Việt Nam would enable South Koreans and friends around the world to see how beautiful and attractive Việt Nam is," Kwon said.
"They will come to Việt Nam to experience the culture and the warm heart of the local people."
Shot from May 17 to July 12, Butterfly Flakes and Waiting for You will take viewers on a journey to famous Vietnamese tourist attractions like Tràng An Scenic Landscape Complex in Ninh Bình Province, Tam Chúc Pagoda in Hà Nam Province, Mũi Né sand dunes in Phan Thiết Province, or Hội An Ancient Town in Quảng Nam Province.

Not only honouring Việt Nam’s natural beauty, the MVs also manifest the South Korean artist’s love for the nation via their lyrics: “Việt Nam, memories in your heart/ I waited for you/ Not for a thousand years, but for five thousand years/ On the sand dunes of Mũi Né/ With a dazzling smile/ Walk at appropriate intervals/ I suddenly stopped/ Close eyes and feel the warm breeze...”
Butterfly Flakes and Waiting for You have been NFTised and released on the Kitego platform.
A graduate of the National Conservatorio of Firenze, Italy, Kwon is well known as a versatile artist. He works as a musician, composer, singer, music producer of K-pop, as well as a therapist of The Well Hospital Voice Centre, and a conductor of SBS Choir Radio.
Kwon said his love for Việt Nam came to him naturally. Since childhood, he has loved and always been interested in learning about the country.
After three years living in Việt Nam and through the COVID-19 pandemic, Kwon, who is also called "Quyền" by his Vietnamese friends, has had a thorough experience of local life and people.
During that time, he has also written and performed many songs about the friendship between Việt Nam and South Korea, his love for the country and the local cuisine, like Go Vietnam Go Go, You Are in My Heart and Chả Cá Hay Peace.
Kwon added: “I believe that the viewers of these videos will love Việt Nam as much as I do. Living in Việt Nam is like my destiny. I will always do my best as an artist to support this country.”
Hà Văn Siêu, deputy director general of the Việt Nam National Administration of Tourism, expressed his appreciation for the South Korean artist’s love for Việt Nam and his art creativity.
“The singer's love for the natural sceneries, people and culture of Việt Nam is a boundless love that could not be explained. It is so emotional to watch the videos and see famous landmarks shining to showcase the beauty of Việt Nam,” he said. VNS
