HÀ NỘI —  The 2022 Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) plus police music gala will be a highlight of the People's Police communication, according to Minister of Public Security Tô Lâm.

The music gala is a special event arranged by the Ministry of Public Security to mark the 60th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the People's Police Force (July 20).

The event is expected to enhance the image of Việt Nam and its people among visitors worldwide. It also aims to promote the image of the Vietnamese police force as friendly and humane.

The celebration will take place on July 9-10 in the capital city of Hà Nội on pedestrian streets located around Hoàn Kiếm Lake.

In addition to those from Japan and China, it will bring together police bands from ASEAN countries, including Laos, the Philippines, Brunei, Myanmar, and Việt Nam.

Minister Tô Lâm stated his confidence in the success of the Vietnamese delegation's performance at the gala during rehearsals on July 2.

Before this gala, the trumpet orchestra of the People's Public Security Corps participated in numerous international police music festivals in Japan, Germany, the United States, and other nations, Lâm said.

He added: "Due to the pandemic and alterations in the global circumstances, the World Police Music Festival has not been hosted recently. The ASEAN+2022 police music gala in Việt Nam is the initial stage, if it can be continued, it will also serve as a channel for cooperation between the police in ASEAN and the expanded ASEAN area."

The Minister also suggested that the organising committee organise this musical event such that it demonstrates how far the People's Police force has progressed, but still maintains a connection to the audience.

During the days of outdoor festivities commemorating the 60th anniversary of the traditional people's police force, drinking water and medical care will be provided, according to the Ministry of Public Security.

In addition, attendees will be able to watch the first cavalry force parade around Hoàn Kiếm Lake.

Lieutenant Colonel Trịnh Anh Thông of the ceremonial troupe of the ministry said more than 120 policemen had spent two months preparing for the event, adding that they would try to improve the performance after getting feedback at the rehearsal held on July 2. VNS
