HÀ NỘI — Lê Văn Thao added a gold for Việt Nam at the ASEAN University Games on July 28 in Ubon Ratchathani, Thailand.
Thao finished the men's 10,000m in a time of 33min 3.12sec to top the podium. Khueankaeo Chaturon of the hosts came second with 33:05.69. Felisberto de Deus of Timor Leste came third on 33:42.40.
Thao will compete in his second event of 5,000m on July 30.
Also on July 28, Vietnamese Ngần Ngọc Nghĩa secured a silver in the men's 200m with a time of 21.46sec. Dapbang Soraoat of Thailand ran 21.35 and his teammate Veeravongratanasiri Nutthapong was third on 21.63.
After two days, Việt Nam have bagged five golds and one silver to place fourth in the medal tally.
Thailand with 27 golds are the leading team. Malaysia, 16 golds, are second, followed by Indonesia with 13. VNS
