ĐÀ NẴNG — A series of Japanese art performances and cultural activities will be held at Biển Đông (East Sea) Park and Đà Nẵng's administrative centre on July 13-17.
Japanese pianist Keiko Borujeson, art troupe of calligraphist Sakamoto Koichi, rock bands Bassist Rayji, True Blood, On the Radio, Hem Hem Saigon and dancer Meik will join performances at the opening ceremony of the Việt Nam-Japan Cultural Festival at the central city’s Biển Đông (East Sea) Park today.

Japanese actress Nakatani Akari, who starred with an all-Vietnamese cast in the movie Em and Trịnh, will exchange with Vietnamese fans during the festival, while TikTok chef Hoshi Phan will demonstrate giant sushi at the cuisine corner at the park.
Japanese tea-making and tasting will be taken at the Nalod Hotel on Võ Nguyên Giáp Street.
Team players from J-League Kawasaki Frontale will hold an exchange with kids at An Trung sports centre as a promotion of expanding the Japanese standard football training programme for young Vietnamese players in the future.
Demonstrations of Japanese calligraphy, paintings, cuisine, and an introduction to education in Japan, alongside tour services and promotion of cities in Japan will take place at 80 pavilions in the park.
The local traditional art troupe of tuồng (classical drama) will stage art performances with Japanese partners.
Tourists and local residents will enjoy a pro-wrestling Heat-up Show during the festival, and talk with readers of the manga One Piece on the occasion of the 15th year since the book was published by the Kim Đồng Publishing House in Việt Nam.

Representatives from the Japanese General Consulate will play flower installation Ikebana, while travel agencies and tour services will be introduced in the tourism and business connection meeting tomorrow.
Đà Nẵng has been home to the annual Japanese Cultural Festival since 2014.
In March, more than 5,000 students and visitors joined the annual Japanese-Vietnamese Culture Exchange Day in celebration of the 50th diplomatic ties of Japan and Việt Nam at Đông Á University.
Last year, the festival drew 30,000 visitors, promoting tourism and culture for local and Japanese artists and businesses.
According to the Japan Tourism Agency, Đà Nẵng and Hà Nội are attractive destinations for Japanese travellers.
The national Vietnam Airlines has resumed the Đà Nẵng-Narita flight, and while flights between Nanki Shirahama airport in Japan’s southeastern prefecture of Wakayama and Hà Nội and Đà Nẵng City of Việt Nam are expected to be launched this month.

In the past, Đà Nẵng has hosted a cherry festival after Japan's Cherry Association donated 100 trees for a pilot plantation at the Bà Nà Hills Mountain resort.
