Vietnamese culture highlighted in art programme in Australia

SYDNEY — A variety of activities to showcase the beauty and richness of Vietnamese culture has been introduced in Việt Nam: A Voyage arts programme, held this week in Sydney, Australia.

Held by the Consulate General of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Sydney, the event was a celebration of the diplomatic achievements between Việt Nam and Australia. through a series of captivating art performances organised by the Việt Nam-Australia Cultural Exchange Organisation (VACEO).

VACEO has played a vital role in promoting and connecting Vietnamese culture within Australia. The organisation has hosted numerous cultural events, showcasing unique performances that blend traditional Vietnamese instruments with Australian indigenous music. They aim to promote Vietnamese culture, providing Vietnamese expatriates and international friends with opportunities to explore and gain a deeper understanding of the country's rich cultural values. In this event, VACEO continued to present outstanding artistic performances that exemplify the perfect fusion of traditional art and modern spirit.

Việt Nam: A Voyage, which took place on Tuesday, welcomed over 500 guests, including representatives from the New South Wales government, the Vietnamese Embassy, key state agencies, diplomatic delegations in Sydney and a large number of Vietnamese expatriates living and working in Australia.

Consul General Nguyễn Đăng Thắng and New South Wales Attorney General Michael Daley were also there.

The highlight of the programme was a series of vibrant artistic performances, ranging from traditional dances to ethnic music. Each performance not only reflected the diverse beauty of various regions, but also narrated historical and cultural stories through music, costumes and dance, taking the audience on a journey to explore Vietnamese culture.

Việt Nam: A Voyage coincided with the Mid-Autumn Festival that is much anticipated by Vietnamese of all ages from around the world. To celebrate this occasion, students from Viet School presented a performance featuring colourful, shimmering lanterns and songs capturing the festive spirit of the full moon night.

Artists from VACEO brought to the event performances that showcased their artistry, technique and creativity while honouring traditional values in a modern setting through every beat of the drums, notes of the flute, strums of the lute and movements of dance.

The appearance of artist Đinh Linh, a master of the Vietnamese bamboo flute, added a unique highlight to the programme. 

The event also presented the catwalk collection Mùa Nước Nổi (Flow of Memories) by B.TheLabel by Bianca Nguyen, taking the audience on a journey to explore the beauty and style of the Mekong Delta.

Inspired by her hometown of Châu Đốc City in the southern province of An Giang, the designer skillfully blended traditional and modern elements to create unique pieces that reflect the cultural identity of Việt Nam.

According to the designer, the collection was not only a work of art but also a tribute to her homeland, promoting the style of Việt Nam to international friends. VNS
