HCM CITY — Vietnamese fashion designers, who have postponed their new collections due to the pandemic, have had a strong comeback at the recent Aquafina Việt Nam International Fashion Week (AVIFW) 2021.
Thirteen Vietnamese designers and fashion brands introduced new collections of evening gowns, suits, streetwear, and áo dài (Vietnamese traditional dresses) for adults and children during the event held recently in HCM City.
Designs were made with high-quality materials, including metallic fabrics, silk, organza, lace, and velvet with hand-embroidered and printed patterns.

Famous designer Adrian Anh Tuấn presented the AVIFW 2021 last week with his latest collection called "Chạm" (Touching) featuring designs for men and women, including evening gowns, suits, long coats, and retro-styled áo dài, along with colourful dresses.
Handbags in leather and accessories were also included.
Adrian Anh Tuấn, founder of fashion brand Valenciani, said he named his collection “Chạm” with the message “Let people 'touch' each other after a long-period social distancing.”
He said “Chạm” is sometimes a contact through the eyes or soul. "Let's be open to welcome a brighter future," he said.
Designer Nguyễn Tiến Truyển debuted his brand “Maison Tei by Nguyễn Tiến Truyển” with his "Maison Tei Spring/Summer 2022” collection.
The collection featured suits, dress suits, bodysuits, T-shirts and shirts in modern style and form, blending colours of black, blue, latte and pink to reflect the revival of the city.

Áo dài designer Minh Châu brought her collection called “Hồi Sinh” (Revival) highlighting the beauty of áo dài in voile and embroidered with Vietnamese traditional patterns like a white lotus.
Young designer Quý Cao, winner of the fashion contest TikTok FashUP 2021, impressed fashion lovers with his collection “Follow the Chemistry” featuring streetwear in vivid colours and innovative designs inspired by áo dài.
Devon Nguyễn, who closed the AVIFW 2021, introduced the collection “Future is Now” with designs for women like suits, dresses and long coats in metallic fabric and voile, highlighting a futuristic style.
Devon, founder of fashion brand Devon London by Devon Nguyen, said she wanted to send a message of letting go of illusions and paying attention to reality.
The AVIFW 2021 also saw the participation of other Vietnamese designers and brands like Hoàng Hải, Ivan Trần, and Lê Long Dũng.
The catwalk performance featured winners from Vietnamese beauty pageants, and top models.
The Việt Nam International Fashion Week, first held in 2014, has become the leading fashion event in Southeast Asia and the fourth largest in Asia after Tokyo, Seoul, and Shanghai fashion weeks. — VNS
