HCM CITY – Two young chefs working at Caravelle Hotel, Trần Văn Thiện and Nguyễn Văn Hưởng, won first prize at the Việt Nam Young Chefs Culinary Challenge 2016.
The competition attracted the participation of 88 teams of 176 professional chefs under age 28 at hotels, restaurants and vocational training schools in southern provinces and cities.
The qualifying round was held on June 15, with 10 teams entering the final round on July 5.
The judges in the competitions were renowned culinary artists, including Lý Sanh (president SPC), Bùi Thị Sương, Triệu Thị Chơi and international food expert Nobert Eharbar.
Oganised by Nestlé Professional of Nestlé Việt Nam in collaboration with the Saigon Professional Chef’s Guild and the Young Chef’s Club, the competition aims to create a professional playground for young chefs to exchange experiences and develop their occupation.
This was the fourth consecutive year that Nestlé Professional organised the competition.
Compared to last year’s edition, the number of teams taking part in the contest rose from 56 to 88. — VNS
