HÀ NỘI — The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has just issued a decision on adding the Đông Cuông Temple Festival to the national list of intangible cultural heritage.
The temple, located in Bến Đền Village, Đông Cuông Commune, Văn Yên District, Yên Bái Province, is a famous spiritual and religious destination, attracting tens of thousands of tourists every year who go there to pray for peace, luck and wealth.
The temple was built a long time ago, worshipping Cao Quan Đại Vương, who found precious remedies to cure diseases for the people.
The Đông Cuông Temple Festival is held in January every year. During the festival, sports activities, folk games such as tug of war, wrestling and folk singing are also held.
Along with the registration of the festival on the national list of intangible cultural heritage, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism proposes to the People's Committees at all levels, where intangible cultural heritage exists, perform the state management in accordance with the law on cultural heritage.
