HÀ NỘI — Fireworks and a drone light show will be organised to celebrate the Hà Nội's 70th Liberation Day anniversary on October 10.
These are two of the highlighted activities in the plan as the commemoration will be held at the national level.
Accordingly, there are a series of 50 activities and events, mainly in September and October.
Among them are activities promoting the image of the capital and Việt Nam; gratitude activities to honour and appreciate the revolutionary contributors; seminars, exhibitions and conferences; renovating, restoring and attaching signs to cultural and spiritual venues and relics; organising cultural - artistic performances; awarding the Hồ Chí Minh Medals and honouring individuals in the "Good People, Good Deeds" and "Outstanding Capital Citizens" programmes.
The special fireworks and lighting art performances will take place on the evening of October 10.
In terms of popularising the city's beauty and culture, Hà Nội will organise number of activities towards the 70th anniversary.
Traditional dress parade will be held during the Hà Nội Áo Dài (Long Dress) Tourism Festival.
These include contests with the theme "70 years of the Capital's Liberation Day" and "Ambassador - Reading Culture"; a film week commemorating the Liberation Day; launching literary and art writing contests on Hà Nội and the Liberation Day; organising the Red River Delta Photo Festival, Peace and Culture Day, Hà Nội Marathon - Heritage Race, Hà Nội Open dragon boat racing; second Hà Nội Autumn Festival and Hà Nội Áo Dài (Long Dress) Tourism Festival.
Regarding gratitude activities, the city leaders will visit President Hồ Chí Minh's Mausoleum and commemorate national heroes at Bắc Son Martyrs Monument and Mai Dịch Martyrs Cemetery; offering flowers at the Monument “Quyết Tử Cho Tổ Quốc Quyết Sinh” (Determined to Brave Death for the Survival of the Fatherland) and Hà Nội - Winter 1946 Monument.
The city delegation will visit, give gifts and offer incense at Martyrs' Cemetery and revolutionary historical relics in Điện Biên, Lai Châu, Hà Giang and Quảng Trị provinces. They will also visit and present gifts to veterans who participated in the resistance war against the French, and honour the sacrifice of martyrs and war invalids.

The city will also support building and repairing houses for poor and near-poor households and people who made meritorious services to the revolution.
The commemorating activities aim to widely popularise and educate officials, party members, people of all walks of life, and armed forces about the great significance of the capital's Liberation Day, affirming that the great leadership of the Communist Party of Việt Nam and late President Hồ Chí Minh; the spirit of great national solidarity; and the will, determination and strength of the Việt Nam People's Army are the decisive factors in all victories of the Vietnamese revolution.
These activities are also to improve the quality of life of the capital's residents, especially those in remote areas and ethnic minority areas. At the same time, Hà Nội's beautiful images will be widely introduced and promoted to domestic and international friends. - VNS
