HCM CITY — Le Thi Bich Hong, 33, has been promoted to become the first woman captain at budget airline Jetstar Pacific, after she notched 4,000 hours of flying aircraft Airbus A320, the company said in a statement on Thursday.
The company said Hong, who had worked as a pilot in command on an Airbus A320 of Jetstar Pacific, started her flying the daily air route from Ha Noi to HCM City in 2013. As a captain, she will be responsible for all crew members and all aspects of the flight.
She is the youngest pilot of the airline so far.
The low-cost Vietnamese airline said it has 41 pilots flying on 36 domestic and international routes.
Viet Nam has six female pilots working for Vietnam Airlines, and two budget airlines, Vietjet and Jetstar Pacific. The youngest captain was Huynh Ly Phuong Dong, 31, who is working for Viet Nam Airlines, while the youngest pilot was Nguyen Kim Chau, 29, of Vietnam Airlines.
