The Mid-Autumn Festival is shining in many colours at the Van Mieu-Quoc Tu Giam, the Temple of Literature, in Ha Noi.

With the participation of more than 500 artists and artisans, the three-day celebration is packed with many cultural activities including music and dance performances, folk games and toy-making.

Children in particular are having a great time at the event, enjoying  all the programmes and listening to stories about how older generations celebrated the festival. They can join the making of several traditional toys like paper masks and lanterns.

Many artisans from different localities are showing off their fruit and vegetables carving skills, and in another corner of the temple, the making of moon cakes – the sweetmeat associated with the festival – is being demonstrated, with people welcome to try their hand at it.

Among other attractions at the event is the presentation of three ao dai (the nation’s traditional dress) collections by well known designers.
