ĐÀ NẴNG — The central city, in co-operation with the Japanese Mikazuki Hotel Group, put an overpass into operation after five months of construction, creating a safe pedestrian walkway and connecting a tourism entertainment complex and the Xuân Thiều beach in Liên Chiểu district.
Mikazuki Hotel Group said the pedestrian bridge, which was built at the cost of VNĐ42 billion (nearly US$1.8 million), measures more than 140 metres in length and stands 11 metres high with a modern Japanese architectural style.
It said the bridge would help visitors walk safely from the Japanese Mikazuki Đà Nẵng Resort & Spa resort and other entertainment centres to Nguyễn Tất Thành Street along the beach in the tourism district.
The bridge also has an elevator for people with disabilities, in wheelchairs, and the elderly.
The debut of the pedestrian flyover aims to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Việt Nam-Japan diplomatic ties, and a typical symbol of friendship ties between Việt Nam and Japan as well as Đà Nẵng with Japan.
In celebration of the anniversary, Mikazuki Hotel Group will mark one year since the inauguration of Mikazuki Đà Nẵng Resort & Spa resort.
According to the city’s investment promotion agency, the Mikazuki Japanese Resort & Spa, which was built on 13ha with a total investment of VNĐ3.9 trillion (US$168.16 million), is the largest resort of its kind in central Việt Nam.

The Japanese-standard tourism service, which features a 22-storey hotel with 294 rooms and an indoor water park, hosted 100,000 tourists (70 per cent domestic visitors) since it officially opened last year.
Currently, Japan is the leading foreign investor in a number of FDI projects in Đà Nẵng, with 222 projects and total investment capital of more than $1 billion.
In efforts to ease traffic congestion at busy junctions, Đà Nẵng has built flyovers, tunnels and railway crossing projects in the downtown area, but only one flyover was constructed at tourism sites. VNS
