Aquatopia Water Park receives the "Asia's Leading Water Park 2020" award from the World Travel Awards.
HÀ NỘI Sun Group, one of the largest real estate developers in Việt Nam, has scooped up prizes at the World Travel Awards (WTA) – Asia Region.
The winners were revealed on the official website as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. In this year's special award ceremony, Sun Group achieved a total of 25 awards in different categories, after winning 21 last year.
In entertainment, Sun Group was presented with awards for three tourism complexes. The Sun World Ba Na Hills tourist area (in Đà Nẵng) won two awards – 'Vietnam's Leading Theme Park', and 'Asia's Leading Theme Park 2020' – while Sun World Fansipan Legend (in Sa Pa Town, Lào Cai Province) was honoured as 'Vietnam’s Leading Tourist Attraction' for the second time.
Meanwhile, Sun World Hon Thom Nature Park (on Phú Quốc Island)'s Aquatopia Water Park won the 'Asia's Leading Water Park 2020' award.
In resort tourism, a total of nine hotels and resorts were honoured with 18 awards in the WTA 2020 – Asia Region.
InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort, developed by Sun Group and architect Bill Bensley on Sơn Trà Peninsula in Đà Nẵng, received seven awards.
Beside awards won in 2019 such as 'Vietnam's Leading Luxury Resort', 'World's Leading Fine Dining Hotel Restaurant 2019' for La Maison 1888 and 'Asia's Leading Luxury Beach Resort', the five-star resort also won two new awards namely 'Vietnam's Leading Honeymoon Resort 2020' and 'Asia's Most Romantic Resort 2020'.
Hotel de la Coupole - MGallery in Sa Pa, Lào Cai won two awards, Vietnam's Leading Luxury Hotel and Asia's Leading Design Hotel 2020.
Hotel de la Coupole – MGallery by Bill Bensley in Sa Pa won the same two awards as in 2019, namely 'Vietnam's Leading Luxury Hotel' and 'Asia's Leading Design Hotel'.
Maintaining last year's achievements, JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay on Phú Quốc Island won two awards: 'Vietnam's Leading Resort 2020' and 'Asia's Leading Luxury Resort & Spa 2020'.

Similarly, Premier Village Phu Quoc Resort kept the same two awards achieved in 2019, 'Vietnam's Leading Villa Resort' and 'Asia's Leading Villa Resort'.
The luxury resort on top of Bà Nà Hills, Mercure Danang French Village Ba Na Hills was named as 'Asia's Leading Themed Resort'.
Other hotel and resort projects invested in and operated by Sun Group were honoured for the first time at WTA 2020 including Premier Village Ha Long Bay Resort (in Hạ Long, Quảng Ninh) as 'Vietnam's Leading Beach Hotel'; Novotel Danang Han River (in Đà Nẵng) as 'Vietnam's Leading Business Hotel', and Premier Residences Phu Quoc Emerald Bay (on Phú Quốc Island) as 'Asia's Leading Hotel Residences'.
In infrastructure, Vân Đồn International Airport (in Quảng Ninh Province) was granted two awards, 'Asia's Leading Airport Lounge' and 'Asia's Leading Regional Airport'.
In its first time participation in WTA, Hạ Long International Cruise Port overcame seven strong competitors in the region to win 'Asia's Leading Cruise Port 2020'. Designed by architect Bensley, the cruise port is a wonderful combination between cultural and architectural quintessence of Việt Nam and Europe.
Chairman of Sun Group Đặng Minh Trường said: “The COVID-19 pandemic has made 2020 an extremely difficult and challenging year for Sun Group, Việt Nam's tourism industry in particular and global tourism in general.
"However, it is a great joy and encouragement to Sun Group as our tourism, entertainment and infrastructure projects in Việt Nam continue to be honoured at 25 categories of World Travel Awards 2020 – Asia Region.
