HA NOI — More than 60 contemporary Vietnamese painters and sculptors are featured in the art book Viet Art Now – Selected Faces to be released on Saturday.
The book provides readers with knowledge about the country’s artistic background as well as notable works of arts and portraits of artists in the period between 1975 and the present.
Both veteran painters who have made significant contributions to Vietnamese art, including Thanh Chuong, Vu Dinh Tuan, Pham Binh Chuong, Pham An Hai, Pham Ha Hai and new talents like Thai Nhat Minh, Hoang Van Diem, Ha Phuoc Duy, are featured in the book.
The book is the first publication from the Art Book Project, run by the Vincom Centre for Contemporary Art (VCCA), which aims to introduce and honour Vietnamese artists as well as popularise art and bring artists closer to the public.
To do so, VCCA plans to introduce one to two publications a year, with quality content and design.
A talkshow about the role of art projects like Viet Art Now or VCCA in supporting the development of young Vietnamese artists will also be held. The event will include the participation of Vietnamese painters from different generations.
VCCA is a non-profit art centre, sponsored by Vingroup, with a mission to connect artists with the community, artworks with the public, and Vietnamese contemporary art to the global art scene.
Equipped with infrastructure and facilities meeting international standards, VCCA develops diverse artistic activities and attracts both domestic and international artistic talents.
VCCA aims to be an important art centre in Viet Nam and Southeast Asia. — VNS
