HA NOI — Two outstanding Australian performers will impress Ha Noi audiences with sounds of the guitar and exotic oud during a free concert at Voice of Viet Nam Radio Station's theatre next Monday.

The concert, titled Brothers in Concert: Sounds of Colours, showcases Leonard Grigoryan on guitar and Joseph Tawadros playing the oud - a pear-shaped Middle-Eastern stringed instrument. They will be joined by Vietnamese artists with traditional musical instruments.

The concert is presented by the Australian Embassy in Ha Noi and Voice of Viet Nam Radio. Free tickets can be collected at the embassy from today.

Grigoryan and Tawadros are members of the Band of Brothers, well known in Australia for their exceptional skills, diverse music forms and on-stage chemistry.

Australian Ambassador to Viet Nam Allaster Cox said the concert was a good opportunity to bring the two countries together.

"Brothers in Concert brings Australian and Vietnamese closer together by including collaborations between artists from both countries," Cox said.

"‘Brothers' is a good term to describe the friendship between Australia and Viet Nam," he said.

In Ha Noi, the Australian artists will also conduct a master class with students of the Viet Nam National Academy of Music. They will also share their experience with students of the HCM City Conservatory of Music and perform at the HCM City Opera House on March 2.

The Grigoryan and Tawadros family names are synonymous with modern Australian classical music.

Regarded as one of Australia's finest classical guitarists, Grigoryan is also well-known for his forays into genres such as latin, jazz, folk and contemporary music.

Tawadros is recognised as one of the world's leading performers and composers for the oud. With his brilliant technique and his energetic performance, Tawadros continues to appear in concert halls worldwide, dazzling audience with his music. — VNS
