Da Nang  — A tourist-friendly photo show, a Master Chef open contest, and a broad array of other cultural prorammes are planned in celebration of the fifth Asian Beach Games (ABG5) in Da Nang city from September 24 through October 3.

The city’s tourism department said the photo exhibition will display the best 100 photos of professional and amateur photographers of the city at East Sea Park — the location of the ABG’s opening ceremony — on September 24th.

The photo show comes as part of a broad offering of city-celebrating events.

A community show will be organised at the east park of the Rong (Dragon) Bridge from 9am to 10.30pm on Saturday (September 24th).

The department said a public performance of Bai Choi (a traditional Vietnamese game combining folk songs and selections from a deck of cards) will also take place on the east park of the Dragon Bridge on Tran Hung Dao Street 9pm on Saturday.

A book show on ‘Da Nang-a liveable city’ will be launched at the city’s library on Bach Dang Street the same day.

Artists from the city will debut body paintings on September 25-26 at a stage in Tran Hung Dao Street.

The city will host a street carnival every night along a beach road section between Vo Van Kiet and Pham Van Dong street from September 25th to October 1st.

The city also organised the Master Chef Da Nang open contest, the Sunday Fest and the Tuong (Classic Drama) performance on Sunday (September 25th).

Various programmes including local fork games, fishing village competitions, trumpet performances, cuisine shows and tour programmes will be opened for tourists, athletes and local residents along My Khe beach during October 1-3.

A fire camp—and an exchange between athletes from participating countries at ABG5, local residents and tourists—will spark up at a public park in Tran Hung Dao Street on September 30th.

According to the ABG5 organising committee, over 7,000 athletes, coaches and officials from 42 teams from Asian countries and territories will take part in the biggest beach sport games in Asia.

Over 30 hotels and resorts are selected to host athletes and teams during the 10-day ABG5. — VNS
