BEN TRE (VNS) — A performance focusing on the centuries-old Cambodian culture kicked off the Week of Cambodian Culture 2013 in Viet Nam last night.
Cambodian artists performed several Cambodian traditional folk dances, Khmer martial art performances and songs dedicated to Viet Nam-Cambodian friendship.
Co-organised by the culture ministries of Viet Nam and the Kingdom of Cambodia, the week-long event seeks to present Cambodia's unique traditional art, as well as to strengthen cultural exchanges between the two neighbouring countries, while boosting friendship and solidarity among the two nations.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, deputy culture minister of Cambodia Kong Khantara and his Vietnamese counterpart, Vuong Duy Bien, stressed that this meaningful cultural event is a wonderful opportunity for Vietnamese people to learn more about Cambodia, its culture and people. The ministers added that the culture week will contribute to the development of friendship and co-operation between the two countries.
The Week of Cambodian Culture 2013 in Viet Nam will continue until December 23 in two provinces, Ben Tre and Soc Trang. — VNS
