HCM CITY  (VNS) — Robinson Department Store (Robins) has co-operated with Vietnamese fashion designer Adrian Anh Tuan to kick off a social programmme titled Designs from the Village.

In the programme, Tuan visits brocade villages of ethnic minorities in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong, seeking inspiration for a charity fashion collection which will be sold at Robins.

"The trip is a meaningful one," said Tuan, the owner of luxury brand Valenciani, and judge of the 2015 Viet Nam's Next Top Model. "Lam Dong is the cradle of many sophisticated brocade villages which created the beauty of the highlands.

"It is my honour to be welcomed by the region's locals, and to give a hand to support this community," he said.

Tuan visited trade villages K'Long and B'No on his three-day trip that began on August 14.

His collection will include 10 fusion T-shirts which feature traditional and modern patterns of brocade. It is expected to be launched in the fourth quarter of this year.

The village will have a source of income by supplying brocade for the collection, and all profits from the collection's sales will be donated. Designs will also be handed over to the village to make souvenirs. — VNS
