HA NOI — Three Hanoian young models are among the short-listed contestants to compete in the final round of the pageant Miss Viet Nam World 2010.
The models, including Nguyen Phuong Mai, Nguyen Thuy Thu, and Nguyen Thi Ha, frequently appear on catwalk stages, and are among some of the most impressive short-listed contestants in Thursday's beauty selection. Nine other women were also short listed.
The 11 entrants were selected from 26 candidates, who performed in three categories, including ao dai (traditional dress), swimsuit, and evening gown.
"Unlike in the first round, all 26 semi-final contestants have presented a confident manner, smart comportment, and ability to dominate a stage. They are all very beautiful and intelligent. It was a hard work for us to make a final decision," said chief judge and movie director Do Thanh Hai.
A similar selection for contestants from the southern region will take place next Wednesday at HCM City.
The selected candidates from both regions will gather for the final round, which will take place at Vinpearl Land Resort and Spa in the central coastal city of Nha Trang from August 10-21.
The winner will take home VND500 million (US$26,000) in prize money, while the first and second runners up will receive VND300 million and VND200 million in cash.
Co-organised by the Viet Nam Television and the Vinpearl Land Tourist Joint Stock Company, the second edition of the Miss Viet Nam World 2010, aims to connect Vietnamese people from home and abroad. — VNS
