Hard Rock Cafe plans charity music event

HCM CITY — Hard Rock Cafe in HCM City announced yesterday a special live music programme in March to raise money for a school for disadvantaged kids.

Half of the profits from the "March on Stage" programme will be donated to the Thang Long vocational training school run by Saigon Children's Charity in District 4, Hard Rock announced.

English band Rubylux, will headline next Friday as apart of their residency at the club.

Vietnamese acts will perform with Rubylux during the month. These include Microwave on March 11, Pham Anh Khoa on March 18, Phuong Uyen-Le Minh on the 25th, and Thao Trang on the 26th.

"We are very glad to become the first partner of Hard Rock Cafe in the March programme. The donation will help disadvantage children and young people at the Thang Long School to have a brighter future," Paul Finnis, director of Saigon Children's Charity (SCC), said.

The entrance fee will be VND150,000 per person after 9pm every night, inclusive of a bottle of Coors Light, which is sponsoring "March on Stage".

Founded in 1992, the SCC is a UK registered charity working exclusively in Viet Nam. During 2004-2008, SCC built and renovated 127 classrooms for about 3,800 children; and supported 3,487 children through its Scholarship Programme while 1,500 children have studied at the Thang Long School. — VNS
