VIENTIANE - President Hồ Chí Minh was a great leader who had a comprehensive vision and made wholehearted devotion to the Vietnamese people and nation, Douangmixay Likaya, a Lao writer described the Vietnamese leader, who he met in 1959 when the 78-year-old writer and musician was studying in Việt Nam.

In a conversation with Vietnam News Agency (VNA)’s correspondents in Vientiane, Douangmixay showed his great love for President Hồ Chí Minh, and the passion to write works honouring the Laos - Việt Nam relationship to contribute to maintaining the special ties between the two countries.

The Lao writer said that he has strived to study and follow President Hồ Chí Minh's ideology, moral example and lifestyle.

Particularly, he has applied the leader's short, understandable and memorable writing style to his works.

Douangmixay wrote several music works about President Hồ Chí Minh in Lao, Vietnamese and Mông languages, including a two-movement symphony titled Red River-Mekong inspired by President Hồ Chí Minh's saying that the friendship between Việt Nam and Lao is even deeper than the water of the Hồng Hà (Red River) and the Cửu Long (Mekong River).

On the occasion of the 55th anniversary of President Hồ Chí Minh's testament and the 79th anniversary of Việt Nam's National Day, the musician coordinated with the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos to hold a concert on the night of August 30, during which 2-3 songs composed and written by him about President Hồ were performed.

He said he has always reminded his relatives and friends that without the leadership of President Hồ Chí Minh over the revolution in the three Indochinese countries, they would not enjoy today's independence.

He emphasised that the President was an exemplary role model and a true communist admired by people in Laos, Việt Nam and around the world. - VNA/VNS
