HA NOI — A Ha Noi-based youth theatre has introduced the latest in a series of Doi Cuoi (Laughing Life) shows which includes four comedies about people's common fears.
The programme called Fears is under director Le Hung, script writer Thanh Le and performed by the theatre's troupe 2.
In the show, different fears are examined such as death, ghosts, losing a loved one and even fear of losing a job. The fears have haunted the people themselves, causing ironic and ridiculous troubles in their lives.
The first comedy features a man who is terribly afraid of ghosts. He does not dare to do anything because of his unreasonable fear and consequently, his family encounter a number of problems.
Then, audiences would know about another man called Duong with his fear of death. Duong takes different types of medicines with the hope that they help him prolong his life. But finally, he himself becomes a victim of medicine.
Audiences will also laugh at the extreme jealousy of a couple. The green-eyed husband is accustomed to troubling his wife with his unreasonable jealousy. However, when the tables are turned, it leads to hilarious consequences.
Adapted from a story by late writer Nguyen Cong Hoan, the comedy, Fear of Losing Position, is an ironic story about a man who has a love affair in order to gain a promotion but it all ends in tears when he is left with nothing.
The fictional and non-fictional stories have made audiences think more about life thanks to excellent performances by the theatre's artists including Ngoc Huyen, Sy Tien, Ngoc Bich and Tu Oanh. — VNS
