HCM CITY — Rex Sen Vang Theatre will premiere a water puppetry and cultural programme at the Vertical Garden at the five-star Rex Hotel Sai Gon in HCM City’s District 1 on September 17.

The show will feature of Hat Boi, a classical theatre genre that was born in Viet Nam 700 years ago; an imperial Hue-style dance which was known in the country 500 years ago; Chau Van (a traditional northern singing style with a 400-year history); and Hau dong (a solo performance of stone musical instruments from the Central Highlands dating back 2,000 years).

A traditional water puppetry show, an art form that is over 1,000 years old, will end the show.

The Rex Sen Vang Water Puppetry Theater is a joint effort by Rex Hotel and Thai Duong Company, which manages the popular Rong Vang Puppetry Theater at the Labour Cultural Palace in District 1. — VNS
