QUANG BINH (VNS) — The cost of visiting caves located in the central Quang Binh Province has doubled since the first day of 2015.

The price of entry tickets to the Thien Duong (Paradise), Phong Nha, and Tien Son caves has been fixed at VND250,000, VND150,000 and VND80,000, respectively. The increase was implemented following a decision made by the provincial People's Committee, but no explanation has been given for the change.

The caves are considered a favourite destination of most Asian and Vietnamese tourists, who prefer to walk around while sightseeing. A trendy choice for Westerners is the world's largest cave Son Doong and its sister cave, the Tu Lan, which offer visitors adventurous options, such as trekking and caving.

Last year, the number of tourists visiting the province went up. Experts are of the view that most tourism managers in Viet Nam operate under the belief that an increase in tourist numbers should translate into higher prices. — VNS
