HCM CITY— Many artists in movies, theatre and fashion participated in a nationwide charity fundraising programme for children with heart disease in HCM City on December 1.

The event called Vết Sẹo Cuộc Đời (Scar of Life) was organised by VAA Entertainment in partnership with local organisations, including Heartbeat Vietnam.

This year's theme “Hero of the Hearts” was chosen to highlight organisations and individuals who help save children from serious diseases.

The event collected more than VNĐ13.2 billion (around US$541,500) to help 451 child patients with heart disease.

Since it first launched in 2011, the annual programme has become one of the most popular charity events in the city, attracting local and foreign organisations as well as local residents and expatriates.

In 2019, the event raised $450,000 to help 350 child patients. It was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“There are so many children who need our help. It is only with your help that we are able to do miracles for disadvantaged children through Vết Sẹo Cuộc Đời,” she said.

Vết Sẹo Cuộc Đời has collected more than $2.5 million. It has attracted top Vietnamese artists in different fields, including pop stars Hồng Nhung and Tóc Tiên, Miss Việt Nam Universe 2017 H’Hen Niê, and fashion designer Thuỷ Nguyễn. — VNS
