HÀ NỘI – Nearly 150 travel companies and governments of eight northwestern provinces launched a campaign to promote regional tourism in Hà Nội on June 12.

They made a determination to lure visitors to the northwestern region and work to find solutions to revive tourism after the pandemic.

Accordingly, representatives of travel and media agencies joined a fact finding tour to eight expanded northwestern provinces, namely Hòa Bình, Sơn La, Điện Biên, Lai Châu, Lào Cai, Yên Bái and Phú Thọ from June 12 to 16.

The event is a joint effort between the Việt Nam Tourism Association (VNAT) and leaders of eight northwestern provinces to enhance regional tourism exploitation, contributing to improving local people’s lives.

“Tourism is one among industries impacted seriously by COVID-19 but it has a capacity to revive fastest when the pandemic ends,” said vice chairman of VNAT Vũ Thế Bình.

“The northwestern region has a huge potential in cultural and natural resources to develop tourism however there are still many challenges,” he said.

“With the high determination of the local governments and the travel enterprises, we expect that the campaign will see some good results. We all acknowledge that developing tourism is the most effective way to develop the local economy.”

Nguyễn Công Hoan, director of HanoiRedtours Company, suggested some policies such as developing new products and tours, finding new markets, creating the connection between provinces in the northwestern region and building up a strategy to promote particular tours. VNS
