HCM CITY – Songstress and actress Hoàng Thùy Linh won awards for favourite songstress and song at the 25th annual Mai Vàng (Golden Ochna) Awards ceremony at the HCM City Opera House on Wednesday night.
Her song, Để Mị Nói Cho Mà Nghe (Let Me Tell You), featuring contemporary folk with rap by composer DYTAP, has been a hit. Directed by Nhu Đặng, her MV, released in June, has attracted more than 85.6 million views on YouTube.
The Người Lao Động (The Labourer) newspaper, the organiser, also granted awards for talented artists and shows in the fields of film, music, theatre, and television, which received a warm welcome from local audiences last year.
Pop star Noo Phước Thịnh was named favourite singer for his song Thương Em Là Điều Anh Không Ngờ (I Love You without a Doubt), composed by Triết Phạm.

Directed by Nguyễn Danh Dũng, the 85-episode serial features the life of a widower and his three daughters, and their troubles which face in life.
Cao Minh Đạt and Ninh Dương Lan Ngọc won awards for favourite actor and actress.
Đạt played the leading role in TV serials Tiếng Sét Trong Mưa (Thunder in the Rain), while Ngọc played a role in the comedy movie Cua Lại Vợ Bầu (Love Again).
Ngọc said: “I’m happy at holding second Mai Vàng trophy. I won the first one 10 years ago. Since then, I have worked hard to follow my passion for acting and my effort has paid off. “
The Đại Việt Drama Theatre’s cải lương (reformed opera) play Chuyện Tình Khâu Vai (Khâu Vai Love Story) won the award for favourite theatre play.
The play was penned by Nguyễn Thế Kỷ and director Triệu Trung Kiên and tells the story of the cultural beauty of ethnic people on the Đồng Văn Plateau in the mountainous province of Hà Giang, which is home to the Khâu Vai Love Market.
Actor Võ Minh Lâm and Meritorious Artist Thoại Mỹ brought home the trophies for favourite theatrical actor and actress.
