Festival-goers buy and sell specialities south such as to he (toy figurines) made from clay and that can be used as whistles. It's also a chance to enjoy martial arts, hat boi (Vietnamese classical opera) and human chess.

Khe Thuong Village in Ba Vi District of Ha Noi

The festival commemorates God Tan Vien. Offerings are made from boats on the river. Young men from the village cut banana trees with sharp swords to bring good fortune in the new year.

The pagoda worships Buddha and monk Nguyen Binh An who reached enlightenment.
There is also a palanquin procession of gods, human chess and a puppet show.

The festival celebrates the mother goddess Au Co, who gave birth to the Vietnamese. Chau van (spiritual songs) singing, a palanquin procession and folk dances will be held.

The festival commemorates the founder of forging and coining with folk singing by boys and girls of Bui Village and a procession by Ngo and Son villagers.

The festival honours Linh Son My Nuong Goddess with a procession around the village.

Vieng Market Festival

Kim Thai Commune in Nam Dinh Province.

The special market opens only once a year, selling and buying things for luck. Both sellers and buyers don't bargain.

Chuong Festival

Chuong Village in Thanh Oai District, Ha Noi
The festival celebrates Phung Hung (761-802), a tutelary god. People sell and buy conical hats, which the village is famed for. There is also human chess and rice cooking. — VNS
