HA NOI (VNS) — The Ha Noi-based Art Tunnel Gallery and South Korea's Hansae Yes24 Foundation will jointly organise an exhibition of about 42 lacquer paintings by 14 Vietnamese artists in Seoul next month.
Tran Quoc Hung, the curator of the exhibition, said the paintings represented both traditional and modern styles of graphic designs.
"We chose popular artists, who have a long experience of making lacquer paintings," Hung said. "More modern-style paintings have been chosen as we think today's audience will take more interest in such paintings than in traditional-style ones."

The exhibition is the first event that Hansae Yes24 Foundation is supporting in Viet Nam. The foundation was established in 2014 by the Hansea Co., Ltd., a South Korea-based company that is mainly engaged in garment manufacturing. The company produces shirts, knitwear, women's suits and casual apparel at its production sites in Guatemala, Indonesia and Viet Nam. In Viet Nam, the company has three plants in HCM City and the southern provinces of Tien Giang and Tay Ninh.
The exhibition will be held at the Ganainsa Art Centre in downtown Seoul from July 15 to 20, where artists Tran Phi Truong, Do Khai and Nguyen Hai Nam will represent the participating artists and introduce the process of making Vietnamese traditional lacquer paintings to the South Korean visitors.
"We hope to balance the influence of the South Korean wave in Viet Nam by promoting understanding of Vietnamese culture in South Korea," Ha Chan Ho, director of Hansae Yes24 Foundation, said. "We plan to sponsor another event to introduce Vietnamese literature in South Korea soon." — VNS
