HA NOI (VNS) — A map of Viet Nam created from 1.5 tonnes of fresh fruits has been recognised by the Viet Nam Guinness Book Centre as the country's largest map made of fruits.

Designed by Pham Ngoc Thanh, chairman of the Pets and Ornamental Plants Association in the southern Ben Tre province's Chau Thanh District, the 60sq.m map features more than 20 different kinds of fruits, such as grapes, pomelos, oranges and mandarins, besides honey melons and cocoa. Ben Tre Province is the country's largest fruit granary.

Six hundred flower pots were also used for the map.

The map depicts the mainland with three regions – northern, central and southern – as well as the beloved Spratly and Paracel archipelagos.

The map, which is part of the Tet celebration co-organised by the Can Tho City's military commander and the Thot Not District People Committee, is now on display in Trung Kien Ward in Thot Not District. — VNS
