HÀ NỘI — The Việt Nam Professional Football Company (VPF) and Bamboo Airways extended their co-operation to another year at a signing ceremony on Tuesday in Hà Nội.
It is the third year in a row that the airway has committed to be a partner with the VPF to organise the National Cup.
Bamboo Airways is also the official transporter of the tournament.
Speaking at the event, VPF General Director Nguyễn Minh Ngọc said: “Bamboo Airways and the VPF have worked with each other since the 2019 season, and we really saw the strong growth between two sides. Our co-operation contributes to lift the quality of the tournament and spreading different messages through football.
“This year will be a tough one with challenges ahead but with Bamboo as a partner who is always ready to support, we believe that national fans will enjoy great competitive matches,” Ngọc said.
The National Cup will see the participation of 27 teams competing in a knock-out format.
The opening match will see V.League 1 side Topenland Bình Định face V.League 2 squad Long An on April 24 at Quy Nhơn Stadium.
The 2021 Bamboo Airways National Cup winners will receive a bonus of VNĐ1 billion (U$S43,400) and will qualify for the 2022 AFC Cup.
Local authorities will decide if supporters can attend the cup matches and all those in attendance must have their temperature checked.
Last year, Hà Nội FC retained the trophy by beating Viettel 1-0 in the final. VNS
