HA NOI — Midfielder Bui Tien Dung will have to rest for at least two weeks because of injury.
Dung fell during a 2019 Asian Cup qualifier match between Viet Nam and Afghanistan on Tuesday and had to be replaced in the 70th minute.
Doctors said he suffered from a dislocation and stretched ligament, and could return to action only in mid April.
Dung is one of the key midfielders of not only the national team and the U22 squad, but also of his club Viettel FC.
He was to play for Viettel in the eighth round match of the First Division tournament this weekend.
Viet Nam tied Afghanistan 1-1 on Tuesday. Their second leg match is on November 14 at Ha Noi’s My Dinh Stadium. — VNS
