HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam's national football teams received big bonuses after their successes at the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia.
The Việt Nam Football Federation (VFF) on May 23 presented VNĐ3.6 billion (US$153,600) to the women's squad for winning their eighth Games trophy on May 15.
The same day, the team received VNĐ1 billion ($42,700) each from Thaco Auto Group and Phong Phú Joinstock Corporation.
Earlier, Metfone, a brand of Viettel Group in Cambodia, presented them VNĐ200 million ($8,600) right after the final match.
Meanwhile, the U22 squad, which secured a bronze medal, earned VNĐ2.4 billion ($102,400) from the VFF.
Speaking at the awards ceremony, VFF President Trần Quốc Tuấn appreciated the achievements of both teams, especially the women, who made history with their fourth gold in a row.
He said the results showed their great efforts in regional events. He believed that it would be a strong base for both teams to achieve more success in the future.
Coach Mai Đức Chung of the women's team said he felt the love and support of local fans before, during and after every tournament. He thanked everyone for supporting them and promised that the whole team would work harder to compete better. VNS
