HCM City triumph at national finswimming champs

HA NOI — HCM City triumphed in the National Finswimming Championships which concluded in Thua Thien Hue on Friday.

The team brought home nine gold, five silver and eight bronze medals after three days of competition.

Quang Binh finished second after winning five golds, one silver and two bronzes, while Da Nang came third with three golds, two silvers and four bronzes.

On the last day, five individual and two team records were broken.

Nguyen Thi Tam of Thai Binh broke the old national record of 1:34.80 in the 200m immersion with a time of 1:33.96.

Tran Thi Trang Diem, 21, of Quang Binh set a new record in the women’s 800 immersion with a time of 7:13.35, beating the old record of 7:21.14.

Earlier, Diem also set a new record in the women’s 1,500m immersion.

In the women’s 4x200 immersion relay, Da Nang took gold and broke the old record of 6:36.66 with a time of 6:26.67.

Today, 19 teams nationwide will continue to compete in the National Swimming Championships for 45 sets of medals. — VNS
