HA NOI — Despite the rain, Le Nguyet Minh triumphed in the second stage of the Binh Duong Television Cycling Tournament, Ong Nhua Hoa Sen Cup, on December 4.
With best sprint in the last metres, Minh from VUS-HCM City beat strong rivals to take lead with a time of 3:29.40 in the 132km race from Phan Rang-Thap Cham City to Ninh Hoa District in Khanh Hoa Province.
Minh’s teammates, Le Van Duan and Mai Nguyen Hung finished second and third.
The national cyclist Minh also won the green jersey with 28 points, followed by Pham Quoc Cuong of Domesco Pharmacy Dong Thap with 13 points.
Although, Pham Quoc Cuong of Dong Thap didn’t rank in top three of this stage, he still held the yellow jersey award for the best overall time.
Today, nearly 70 cyclists will compete in the third stage from Ninh Hoa to Krong Pak of Dak Lak Province, lasting 124km.
The tournament, which covers nine stages, has a total prize of VND400 million (US$17,400), of which the winners of the overall yellow jersey will earn VND60 million ($2,600). — VNS
