Nam, world No 481 and No 8 seed in this international event, beat young ace Nguyễn Văn Phương 2-0 (6-3, 6-0).
Nam’s next rival will be Indian Manish Sureshkumar, world No 689.
Overseas Vietnamese Daniel Nguyễn, world No 445, also reached to the second round after beating Alen Rogic Hadzalic of Croatia (No 1086) 2-0 (6-3, 6-1).
Earlier, Nguyễn Đắc Tiến was ousted after losing to Sidharth Rawat of India, world No 522, 0-2 (5-7, 2-6).
The event, which has a total prize of US$25,000, will last until October 6.
