Players honoured at national largest amateur tennis event

HCM CITY — The 2024 Việt Nam Construction Interior Tennis Tournament, the largest amateur event under the Việt Nam Tennis Federation, wrapped up successfully on March 10 in HCM City.

A total of 300 athletes from 30 cities and provinces took part in the competition at the Khang An Tennis Court.

Players were divided into different categories based on their level points and competed in doubles events.

Nguyễn Minh Thắng and Nguyễn Mạnh Hùng, a mixed pair of Hà Nội and HCM City defeated Nguyễn Tiến Vỹ and Phạm Tấn Hoan of HCM City to take a title in the men's 1330 class.

The winners of the men's 1270 class were Khả Thanh Tài and Mã Lập Tăng of Sóc Trăng who beat Bùi Văn Pha and Trần Văn Bảy, a Hà Nội-HCM City pair, in the final.

Other champions were Phạm Văn Huynh and Nguyễn Ngọc Tân of HCM City in the men's 1230 Connection category; Phạm Hữu Thịnh and Lê Cao Nguyên of HCM City in the men's 1230 Sustainability; Thái Tuấn Kiều and Cao Minh Hiếu of HCM City in the men's Leaders.

The winners of the only women's event were Trương Ngọc Yến and Trần Hoàng Kim who beat Dương Thị Phi Tuyền and Huỳnh Thị Trang Thảo.

Vice President of the Việt Nam Olympic Commitee Nguyễn Quốc Kỳ honoured the strong effort of players contributing to the competitive matches and successful events.

Kỳ, President of the Việt Nam Tennis Federation, presented certificate of merits to the organising board and senior players for their attempt to push the national tennis development.

Through the tournament, organisers also raised a charity fund to support families facing difficulty in HCM City. All money was handed over to needy people at the award ceremony night.

The next tournament will be held in July in Thanh Hóa Province. VNS
