HÀ NỘI Phetdarin Somrat of Thailand won the 10th Bình Dương International Women’s Cycling Tournament, Biwase Cup, which concluded yesterday in Thủ Dầu Một City of Bình Dương Province.
The Thai cyclist had the best overall time of 28:17.52 after 10 stages. Đinh Thị Như Quỳnh of Biwase-Bình Dương and Nguyễn Thị Thi of Lộc Trời Group were the runners-up.
In the last 112km stage from Vũng Tàu to Bình Dương yesterday, Miho Yoshikawa of Elephant Fertiliser - Bình Dương overcame Phạm Hồng Loan of MM Mega Market at the finish line to win the stage with a time of 2:48.38.
In the team rankings, Biwase-Bình Dương took the title with a time of 84:58.38. Second and third place belonged to Lộc Trời Group and Thailand, respectively.
The green jersey for the best sprinter wentto Nguyễn Thị Thật of Lộc Trời Group, while the red jersey as the Queen of Mountain went to Như Quỳnh of Biwase-Bình Dương.
The white jersey as the best young cyclist belonged to Nguyễn Thị Kim Cương of Việt Nam Cycling and Motor Sport Federation.
Nearly 200 athletes took part in 10 stages over a total of 1,051km, starting from Bình Dương Province through six other localities, before wrapping up at Thủ Dầu Một yesterday.
As one of the most prestigious races for women in Việt Nam over the past nine years, the Biwase Cup originally lured 12 international teams to take part. However, due to the deadly novel coronavirus, nine withdrew from the event. VNS
