HA NOI — National team member Nguyen Thanh Tam won the fifth stage of the HCM City Television Cycling Tournament on Thursday.
The cyclist from Hat Ngoc Troi An Giang sprinted to the finish line of the 127km stage, from Gia Nghia Town (Dak Nong Province) to Buon Me Thuot (Dak Lak Province), in a time of 3hr 5.47min.
He outclassed Nguyen Tan Hoai (Domesco Dong Thap) and Le Van Duan (VUS HCM City) to bag his first win, which pushed him to second position with 21 points in the green jersey race.
Huynh Thanh Tung (Military Zone 7) is leading with 28 points.
After five stages, Nguyen Duong Ho Vu of HCM City’s youth squad is still the overall leader, clocking a total time of 10hr 12.25min.
He is followed by Giang Thanh Tuan of Army and Nguyen Hoang Thai of Calytos Dong Thap.
BTV Dai Nam Binh Duong lead the team ranking. Military Zone 7 and Domesco Dong Thap are second and third, respectively.
In today’s sixth stage, riders will tour 80km --\ from Buon Me Thuot City to Buon Don District and back. — VNS
