HÀ NỘI — Players for Hải Đăng Tây Ninh Club scored a surprise win at the ongoing VTF Masters 500 Viettravel Cup in Lạng Sơn Province on Friday.
Most thought duo Nguyễn Anh Thắng and Nguyễn Trường Thịnh had no chance against number two seed Lã Xuân Hậu and Nguyễn Đắc Tiến of Hà Nội.
Nevertheless, they eased to a 6-3 win in the first set and took advantage of Tiến's injury in the second set to win 6-2 and advance to the final match.
They will face top-seeded pair Phạm Minh Tuấn and Lê Quốc Khánh of Hưng Thịnh-HCM City for the gold medal.
Tuấn and Khánh also made quick work of their semi-final match up against Huỳnh Minh Hưng and Từ Lê Khánh Duy of Becamex Bình Dương, winning 6-1, 6-2.
In women's doubles, Chanelle Van Nguyen and Đào Minh Trang of Hưng Thịnh-HCM City dominated Hải Dương's Nguyễn Thị Mai Hương and Đặng Thị Hạnh, winning 6-0, 6-0.
In the final, they will play teammates Phan Như Quỳnh and Trần Thuỵ Thanh Trúc who won 6-0, 6-1 over Lê Thị Đào and Nguyễn Thị Hồng of Hải Dương.
