HA NOI — Former national champion Pham Minh Tuan of Hung Thinh – HCM City won his first match in the men’s singles at the VTF Pro Tour in Binh Dinh Province yesterday.
Unseeded Tuan easily beat Pham Hoang Hieu of Da Nang 6-0, 6-0.
Tuan’s teammate Nguyen Quang Vinh also beat Tran Trong Tin of Becamex Binh Duong 6-1, 6-1.
Ha Noi had a good start yesterday. Nguyen Thi Thanh Loan defeated Nguyen Thu Phuong of Bac Giang 6-2, 6-1. Nguyen Thi Mai Linh bested Tong Thi Nguyen of Son La 6-3, 6-2. Hoang Bao Long overcame Pham Quoc Vy of Becamex Binh Duong 6-3, 6-2, while La Xuan Hau also beat Nguyen Nhat Quang of Hung Thinh – HCM City 6-0, 5-7, 6-2.
Today, No 1 seed Nguyen Van Phuong of Becamex Binh Duong will face teammate Dinh Viet Tuan Minh, and No 2 seed Hoang Thanh Trung of Hai Dang Tay Ninh will take on La Xuan Hau of Ha Noi.
The event has attracted 55 players from six teams across the country.
The event aims to select the best players for the national team for upcoming Davis Cup matches and the Southeast Asian Games.
It is being organised by the VTF and the provincial Department of Culture and Sports and will run until April 7. — VNS
