HA NOI — Nguyen Thi Anh Vien won two bronze medals at the Asian Swimming Championship which closed yesterday in Tokyo, Japan.
Vien came in third with a time of 2min 12.95sec in the women’s 200m individual medley.
Japanese Ohashi Yui took the gold medal with a time of 2:11.46, which is the championship’s new record. Her teammate Imai Runa claimed the silver medal with a time of 2:12.58.
Hours later she finished third in the 800m event, clocking 8:38.21.
Chinese swimmers Hou Yawen (8:26.49) and Dong Jie (8:35.21) bagged gold and silver, respectively.
In the previous two days, Vien earned a gold medal and set a record in the 400m IM and won a bronze medal in the 200m freestyle.
In other events yesterday, Le Nguyen Paul and Tran Duy Khoi finished No 5 and No 6 in the men’s 100m backstroke final.
As it was the final day of swimming, Vien’s achievements were also Viet Nam’s results at the Tokyo tournament. — VNS
