HÀ NỘI — The Việt Nam Off-Road  PVOIL Cup 2022 (PVOIL VOC 2022) returns to the capital next month, promising to be the largest event of its type in Vietnamese history.

Held at the Việt Nam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism in Sơn Tây Town near Hà Nội, the PVOIL VOC 2022 will take place between November 4-6.

It will be the largest event yet, with 200 racers from 100 teams across the country competing in four categories; pick-up trucks, SUVs, advanced and open.

PVOIL VOC 2022 will be broadcast live on VTV Cab, has a total prize of VNĐ1.1 billion (US$47,800), including VNĐ560 million ($24,300) in cash and other gifts in kind.

The highlight of PVOIL VOC 2022 is that there will be a unique track for all competitions. Additionally, the competition routes are also designed to be wider, longer and more complex to increase the attraction of the tournament.

In addition to improving the competition routes, the event also upgrades the VOC Smart Timekeeper automatic scoring system, using lasers and magnetic cards to reduce errors. As a result, all competition results and rankings are continuously updated publicly in real-time.

On the sidelines of this year's show will be drifting, paragliding and a model racing tournament with 30 participating teams. In addition, the audience can directly drive with the test track and try cars from major brands.

Nguyễn Đại Hoàng, head of the organising committee, said that after 15 years of establishment and development, PVOIL VOC has become an annual event, attracting thousands of spectators directly and millions of views on television and digital platforms.

According to Hoàng, this year's race will also feature a drawing ceremony to increase transparency.

The PVOIL VOC was previously an amateur sports event called "Vô lăng Vàng" (Golden Steering Wheel) before the authorities officially granted a certificate for the event under the name of 'Việt Nam Off-Road Cup'. VNS
