HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam will host the first week of the women’s Southeast Asian Volleyball League (SEA V.League) 2024 from August 2-4, with Thailand the venue for the second week from August 9-11.
The SEA V.League 2024, formerly known as the ASEAN Grand Prix, is an international women's volleyball tournament contested by four regional national teams from the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand and Việt Nam.
It was first organised in 2019, with Thailand winning the title in three previous competitions.
The Vietnamese team secured second place at SEA V-League 2023, while world-class Thailand took the title.
The men's tournaments will be held in the Philippines from August 16 to August 18 and Indonesia from August 23 to August 25.
This year four new teams, Myanmar, Cambodia, Malaysia and Singapore, will take part.
Last year, Indonesia topped the league, followed by Thailand and Việt Nam.
The announcement was made at a meeting held on April 7 in Bangkok.
Chaired by Somporn Chaibangyang, President of the ASEAN Volleyball Association, delegates agreed that the SEA V.League was a successful event that played key role in developing regional volleyball.
The huge number of supporters that covers the gymnasiums and especially the number volleyball fans watching live broadcasts on television stations and other media proved the attraction of the sport in recent years. VNS
