HA NOI — Viet Nam tied goalless with Myanmar in the first round of the Group A match of the AFF U16 Women’s Football Championships on May 1.
The game was held at BumiSriwijaya Stadium in Palembang in Indonesia’s South Sumatra.
Playing in the heat, the Vietnamese side followed the tactics of coach Nguyen Thi Mai Lan closely but failed to score goals.
When the first half had 10 minutes remaining, it began to rain heavily, which made the two teams play slowly. They could not score any goal.
It continued to rain after the break.
Lan changed her tactics post-break and her players sought the opener. Although Viet Nam dominated the game in the second half, they failed to score.
“I am satisfied with the performance of the Vietnamese players although the match ended in a draw,” Lan said.
In another match of Group A, Singapore drew 3-3 with Malaysia at Athletic Jaka Baring 1 Stadium.
