HA NOI — An international men’s volleyball tournament will be held in Ha Nam Province on May 25-31 while the Asian U19 women’s volleyball tournament will follow a month later in Bac Ninh Province, the Viet Nam Volleyball Federation has announced.
Six teams from China, Kazakhstan, Indonesia, Myanmar, Thailand and Viet Nam will compete in the men’s tournament. They will vie for the top position to get a bonus of US$15,000.
The women’s event, the LienVietPostBank Cup, from June 10-17 will see 16 teams from around the continent.
"Vietnamese teams have little chance to compete in international events organised on home turf which could improve their ability. We have tried our best to call on sponsorships to bring such competitions home. It is not only for the team but also to meet the demands of local supporters," said Tran Duc Phan, the federation’s vice president. — VNS
